This new volume is more than 10 (TEN) HOURS long, and consists of a self-paced project based training course consisting of 9 modules and 83 video lectures! The purpose of this series is to teach you how to light characters on a shot-by-shot basis.
The stages of this project have already been lit (covered in previous volumes), but the character is not; so you will focus on lighting the character for each and every shot. You will become familiar with concepts specific to character lighting, such as keylights, backlights, fill lights, ambient lights, and shadows.
These lighting lessons do NOT teach you the basics of lighting, rather, they teach you how to use the existing lighting tools to light characters and integrate them into already lit backgrounds. You will learn more about optimizing and enhancing rendering, which includes: the BSP tree, .map files, how to properly budget your render time, rendering using XSIBATCH, how to eliminate certain types of texture flickering, how to use rendermaps, and finally a methodology to troubleshoot render crashes.
Lastly, you will also get some bonus material, which includes information regarding some XSI 5.X changes from that of previous versions as well as an overview of features introduced in XSI 5.X. Also, for beginners there is a long discussion about the less often talked about aspects of 3D production, like time sheets, specialization, custom tools, pipeline types and industries.
